About every two weeks, I drive in to Boston and I donate platelets. Contrary to what you've heard, it doesn't hurt very much, nor is it a huge burden. It does take quite awhile (probably about 3 hours door to door), but if you have worthless AB+ positive blood as I do, platelet's are far more valuable. I picked it up from my mom - maybe you'll pick it up from me. To learn more, see this link.
